Wow that has to be the most adorable thing I have ever seen. Absolutely beautiful. Are there any more?

I’d love to see photos in the future if these 2 could meet again. It’ll be like those photos where the wild tiger recognizes the guys that took care of her when she was a cub. Or the polar bear playing with the huskies. :)

That is the coolest black-bucket ever! More pics please, and don’t try to obscure it anymore with those creatures. I mean what a design I bet it’s made in China!

I wish you could domesticate lions – I’d have two for sure if domestication was possible.
October 27th, 2008 at 12:42 pm
That looks like a mastiff puppy. They were breed to hunt and kill lions. You might edit the comment about the lion dominating that dog. I lived with a mastiff and she had cat like reflexes (all 150 lbs of her) and I’d bet like $5 that she would hold her own against a lion.

lol Yeah okay RJ. By saying that mastiff dogs were bred to hunt and kill lions I am sure you meant, they were bred to go hunting with their owners while they shoot at lions. The only non-cat that I have ever seen hold its own against a lion is a bull, which is just a little bit bigger than any dog.

Why cant American voters act like this?
October 27th, 2008 at 1:18 pm
The word is dominant.
October 27th, 2008 at 1:32 pm
actually you right about mastiff dogs fighting lions at least but the thing is in europe they use to have like 2 fully grown mastiffs fight one lion and then they would still barely hold their own

Is the dog a puggle?
October 27th, 2008 at 2:30 pm
The word is still dominate. Dominant is an adjective, dominate is a verb, and you are an idiot.

pictures are cute enough for my blog…but reading the comments here make me feel dumber than when i was shouting for joy looking through the pictures.

aren’t the dogs they use to fight off lions in africa the south-african boerboel’s or something?
my friend has one of those and i recall readin about it..this dog is FREAKIN HUGE! it looks like a lion on it’s own!
October 27th, 2008 at 3:59 pm

This picture makes me love life.

It would be ironic if the pup was a Rhodiesion Ridgeback, as they were ACTUALLY bred to hunt lions.
October 27th, 2008 at 5:48 pm
That breed is a Boerboel (pronounced burr-bull), originally from South Africa. They were bred to protect Dutch settler’s homesteads from lions and other dangerous animals. They are quite imposing dogs when full grown and get you pretty much instant respect when you walk them.

My sister has a Boerboel and a small mutt. The mutt was recently attacked by coyotes and the Boerboel came to his rescue. The mutt had to go to the vet for stitched but the boerboel barely had a scratch on him.

I don’t know whether or not you can domesticate lions.
But I do remember these movies:

These guys are too cute!!
It DOES look a LOT like a Fila pup. They’re incredible dogs, Mastiff, Bloodhound and Boxer are the three most prominent breed in these amazing Brazilian Mastiffs. I’ve had a few and couldn’t see myself with any other breed of dog.

These are old photos from 2006 and should have been marked as such. The cub, KOZO was euthanized at five months of age by San Diego Zoo staff when he was bitten three times by an adult lionness which severed his spine.

That’s a downer! Still I don’t see a 150 # dog going one on one with a 300 # lion. I would place money that the lion cub could have taken the puppy if it had wanted to. It probably was just enjoying playing.

Cute.

This is very cute. It’s a sad thing when a baby is abandoned. But he seems to be fine, since he really doesn’t know what he is missing. Thanks Les for sharing.

I think this was in San Diego. Unfortunately, they introduced the cub to two adult lionesses too soon. It did not end well for the cub :( The dog, however, was adopted.

Really sweet ! ;-)) I always wanted to have a little Lion for my own ;-)

that looks alot like a rhodesian ridgeback but there is no ridge. ridgebacks were bread to hunt lions , however, no dog could ever fight a lion. my ridgeback likes to chase squirrels.
October 25th, 2009 at 6:09 pm
When that lion get bigger that dog’s ass is kicked!!!!
October 28th, 2009 at 5:57 pm
That looks a lot like a Ridgeback to me. Its possible they don’t inherit the ridge gene
