One thing though, I looked it up in a book (LP Central Asia) to learn more, and Darvaza and the craters are in Turkmenistan, not Uzbekistan. They lie in the middle of the Karakum desert, which apparently is Central Asia's hottest desert. An interesting place...right in the middle of the desert. This must be quite an amazing sight.
